Privacy Policy for Secure QR Scanner

Last updated: February 3, 2025

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the Secure QR Scanner mobile application (“App”) handles information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and designing the App so that as much processing as possible happens directly on your device.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

The App is designed so that most data stays on your device. In particular, we do not:

3. Scan Data and History

When you scan a QR code, the scan result (for example, a URL or text) is processed on your device. If you choose to save history, scan entries are stored locally on your device so you can view and manage them later.

We do not upload scan contents or history entries to our own servers. You can clear your history at any time from within the App, which deletes the saved data from your device.

4. URL Safety Checks

The App can perform basic, automated checks on scanned links to help you spot potentially unsafe URLs. These checks are based on local rules (for example, checking the format of the link) and are performed on your device. Scanned URLs are not sent to our own servers for reputation lookup.

These checks are not a guarantee that a link is safe. You should always review links carefully and use your own judgment before opening them.

5. Advertising

The free version of the App displays ads provided by third‑party ad networks, primarily Google AdMob. These providers may collect certain information from your device in order to show, measure, and improve ads, such as:

This data is collected and processed by the ad providers in accordance with their own privacy policies. You can manage ad preferences (including resetting your advertising ID or limiting ad tracking) in your device settings.

When you upgrade to the Pro version, ads are removed from the App experience.

6. In‑App Purchases and RevenueCat

The App offers a one‑time purchase (“Pro”) that unlocks additional features and removes ads. Purchases are processed securely by:

We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Payment information is handled by Google or Apple under their own terms and privacy policies.

We use a third‑party service called RevenueCat to help manage in‑app purchase state (for example, whether you are a Pro user and restoring previous purchases). RevenueCat may receive anonymized purchase information from Google or Apple (such as a purchase token, product ID, and an anonymous user identifier) in order to validate your purchase and keep your Pro status in sync across devices.

7. Local Settings and Storage

The App stores some settings and preferences locally on your device, such as:

This information is stored using local storage mechanisms provided by the operating system and is not automatically shared with us.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the data that the App stores locally on your device, for example by relying on built‑in protections of the mobile operating system. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We recommend that you keep your device updated and protected with a screen lock.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed toward children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes means you accept the updated Policy.
